We are passionate about supporting local. We understand that online shops are sometimes expensive so we have created Keep it Local Marketplace. A dedicated online shop for you to sell your products on.
Why have we built this site?
As the country hit lockdown on the 23rd March 2020 because of the Coronavirus it became very apparent very quickly that businesses have struggled to make ends meet, especially on the high street. Internet shopping has become even more popular and so has supporting local. ECommerce websites can cost anything from £1,000 to build plus a hosting fee each month to maintain. Online sites like Etsy are now awash with items so it is hard to be seen and they can sometimes charge listing fees and commission. So what have we done about it?
Working with North Devon Now and BoomBoom Media we have built Keep it Local Marketplace.
What does Keep it Local Marketplace do?
Keep it Local Marketplace is an online store that allows producers and shops the ability to have your own online shop built into the website. Fully controlled by you the Shop Manager.
The Shop Manager has complete control over the stock uploaded, the inventory, pricing, shipping and more.
How much does it cost?
We would love to be in a position to offer this service for free but unfortunately, due to costs to keep the site running and admin, we do need to charge a small commission. We charge a 5% commission on sales, we absorb the PayPal/Stripe fees for you so actually we take less than 5% and you save. Ultimately if your shop doesn’t make a sale you pay nothing.
What do we get?
You will have full control over your very own online shop but you will be a part of a much bigger group of local businesses on a North Devon Marketplace.
As well as being able to market your own individual shop we will be marketing this Marketplace Via North Devon Now in conjunction with BoomBoom Media.
Is it difficult to set up?
The site uses Woo Commerce a hugely popular eCommerce plugin. We do appreciate that it may not be simple for everyone so we do offer assistance in setting your shop up for a small fee of £15. There is a step by step guide to get your shop off of the ground and a structured setup for how to add products.
What happens if I don’t wish to carry on with my shop?
Should you decide that Keep it Local Marketplace isn’t for you then quite simply we just close down your shop.
